Virtual, Live Parenting Preparation Course: April Cohort

$210.00
sold out

This three-part series will help you:

1) Gain confidence in your upcoming parenting practice by establishing a working understanding of the basic tenets of respectful parenting (using the RIE philosophy)

2) Notice, delight in, and support your baby’s natural motor development over the first year of life

3) Understand how and why to encourage uninterrupted play

4) Build a practice of meaningful and intentional caregiving rituals (diaper changes, feeding, dressing, sleep)

5) Think through the first four weeks — what to expect, how to manage the expectations of others, division of responsibility in your caregiving team, etc.

Each of the three sessions will be 1.5 - 2 hours long, filled with big-picture theory, discussion, and modeling.

Schedule:

  • Monday, April 7 @ 5:30 PM PT: Introduction to Respectful Parenting

  • Wednesday, April 9 @ 5:30 PM PT: Natural Motor Development + Infant Play

  • Monday, April 14 @ 5:30 PT: Caregiving Routines + Surviving and Thriving in the First Four Weeks

Background: This is not a birth prep class -- this is a parenting prep class -- because after the baby arrives, you'll be parenting forever. I initially designed this class for my expecting friends and have since had the privilege of teaching it to over 100 people around the country. I keep the classes small, so you can ask questions and engage in the content through conversation, and have access to my brain and experience as an Infant and Toddler Education specialist. This interaction is more fun for me, as a teacher, and it makes the content "stickier" for you (as opposed to listening to pre-recorded content as you do the dishes). The class is designed to provide a "third point" for you and your partner or parenting team, so that you have a thoughtful, values-aligned, guiding philosophy to look toward together as you enter parenthood.
